NeoTheta Experiment 23: Examinations
Last night a 'community' wide church service was held at Emens Auditorium on Campus. Given the names that were attached to it and how it was handled, I have to get this out of my system. The event was a major league Publicity Stunt and given the only bit of press they got was
this I'd have to say it was a massive failure. In my point of view civilian churches are missing the mark horribly as their services either go too archekic or follow the 'blind contemporary' mold where they act like they are open to everybody, but are usually gunning for people either of similar belief or of higher class/income. The larger irony is that they wonder why they many of them have been getting a steady decline in their attendence and fail to see how stuck in a rut they really are.
Also, larger scale gathering usually doesn't work, as most people go for all the WRONG reasons. Case in point the Oneighty worship services. I can speak for a fact that the overwhelming majority go there mainly for a hangout place and the service is failing to reach anybody in the long run. The service in question also has some rather shady characters who work for it and I have a hard time really considering them to believe in Christ according to the doctrines that they usually speak of, yet break at the same time.
As for religious mission trips, it's a nice idea, but they are completely missing the mark on that one as well. I'm hearing them going to european countries and the like, but they don't send people to the more war torn areas where real missionary work could possibly be done. Apparently they are afraid of getting beheaded by some extremist idiots even though christianity teaches eternal life after this life. All the 'Christians' on the militant snuff videos are usually seen begging for their lives before they are killed which proves this point further.
The complaints of liberal bias at Ball State University are rather laughable, as from what I have gathered from the background of those who are giving the complaints could be accused for conservative bias and defamation of character given how they have harassed other students and professors about the topic.
Now, I'm going to answer a question that was E-Mailed to me by some regulars of the UC@7 college service that I attend on those few weekends that I have absolutely nothing to do. Yes, there is currently a situation between myself and Jeremy Neckers. What happened is that he has gone out of his way to act not only holier than thou, but has also acted severely pretentious thinking that just because I have a different social background he is better than me. Both actions are the two extremes that if I was given at 29 Palms by one of the Marines put under me I would have no problem not only correcting them upfront, but I'd make it stick by putting them on some of the worst shit details out there. What is unique is that he has given both extremes to me, whereas everybody else has been on one side or another.
Furthermore, he has invaded my personal space and while I was gone had the nerve to call me a baby killer and a stupid jarhead. Those are fighting words to anybody in the armed forces, but to me that means they are either dumber than hell or are begging to get corrected hardcore. So this past Saturday when he decided to give me his smug greeting and call me by a abreviated name despite knowning not to, that was going way too far. The major recap of what I said was rather Senior Drill Instructor like as shown below:
"What do you want Nasty? I heard what you said behind my back. The way you have conducted yourself is pathetic, but what you did last week is unforgivable. You are extremely lucky that you aren't military cause I can't correct you like one of my Marines put under me. If you ever act nasty again though I will personally see to it that the consequences will be harsh under your civilian law since you have acted as a physical threat."
Overall, I have another drill period to attend this weekend so I won't be around, but everything that happens when I am not around gets back to me, and usually I hear all my information quicker than normal since religious civilians love to gossip more than anyone else.
On a better note, this weekend for the drill I will be staying at a hotel, so I will also most likely bring in my DDR gear and one of my CF pads. Since we are working until 4 PM every day I figure that I will need something to pass the time and hopefully I will have a 1st floor room. Expect me to also end up with Marines checking out the game, making fun of it at first, then stop making fun of it when I play one of the 10 ft songs.
